Compass Airlines (Mark II)
McDonnell Douglas MD-82 at Sydney
Originally named Southern Cross Airlines, the second iteration of Compass was launched in August 1992 and collapsed in March 1993. Whereas the first Compass used Airbus A300s, the second version flew the smaller McDonnell Douglas MD-82s and MD-83s. After the collapse Compass (II) was found to be mired in financial controversy; the company chairman went to prison for ten years. This MD-82 is awaiting passengers at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) Airport.
