Compass Airlines was a a brave but undercapitalized attempt to break the Ansett/Australian Airlines duopoly on Australia’s domestic trunk routes in 1990. Founded by the former CEO of East-West Airlines Brian Grey, it flew the Airbus A300-600R on interstate routes for barely more than one year before its financial collapse.
