Lockheed L.1011-1 TriStar
On 26 April 1972 Eastern was the first airline to operate the Lockheed TriStar. Technical problems had led to financial problems for Rolls-Royce, manufacturer of the TriStar’s engines, delaying the introduction of the Lockheed product by two years. Eastern operated TriStars on its US domestic routes as well Caribbean services. The fleet totalled 44 aircraft between 1972 and 1991.
