Fokker F.27-200 Friendship 1959
In 1958 Ansett Transport Industries staged a hostile takeover of Butler Air Transport (BAT), deposing the founder, Arthur Butler. Almost immediatel, BAT was renamed Airlines of New South Wales and its two Vickers Viscounts transferred to Ansett-ANA’s fleet. The Douglas DC-3 that flew most of BAT’s intrastate New South Wales operations were gradually disposed of and replaced with Fokker F.27 Friendships, the first entering service in 1959.
