By 1960 the Qantas fleet of Boeing 707-138s was growing, enabling an expansion of the airline’s round-the-world services. The westbound service flew to southern Asia and through the Middle East to London. Stops included Singapore, Colombo, Bangkok, Bombay, Karachi, Calcutta, Cairo, Beirut, Rome, Zurich and Frankfurt. The eastbound route flew Sydney to Nadi, Honolulu, San Francisco and New York to London.
