Qantas operated the Super Constellation from 1954 to 1962 with the peak of its achievements being the round-the-world services beginning 1958. For many Australians the Super Constellation represented the ultimate in prestige international travel. Following the introduction of the Boeing 707 in 1959 Super Constellations were gradually relegated to minor routes and eventually sold off.
